Although Dad's football
tastes are catered for, this holiday entertainment centre offers children's
and adult's arcade games, toddler's toys, even a 'cuddly toy' machine.
There are weekly kids disco's, a garden pool table, computer games and
a range of "kidscocktails.htm" onClick=new_window(); target=newWindow onMouseOver="window.status='Kids Cocktail Listing';return true" onMouseOut="self.status=''; return true">kiddie's
cocktails. Last year's favourite was Pokemon and Hear'say, the previous
year - Bugs Life then the Teletubbies and Toy Story 2 and for the more
sophisticated - the Spice Girls. This year is The Incredibles !
That's just during the daytime...The pub offers the widest choice of
live British TV on the island with multi-screens (16 to be exact) delivering
Sky, Irish and British terrestrial TV via digital satellite. So if you're
addicted to the soaps you can nip down and catch the current episode
of East Enders or Coranation Street, whilst the rest of the family think
you're buying a bag of sprouts for dinner. (Don't forget that we are
an hour behind Great Britain so if your Dad watches it at 7.30pm, it'll
be on at 8.30pm here).
If its sports your after,
then the Vic is the place to be for all the sports, Football ( Premiership,
Scottish Premier, Coca cola League, GAA League, Hurling,Friday night
boxing, to mention a few, we have it all and if we havent got it Neil
will do his upmost to get it for you, all you have to do is ask. its
been known for the Queen Vic to be full of guys watching the footy inside
( 3 different matches) and the garden full of ladies watching the omnibus
edition of eastenders.
Every Thursday, Friday
and Saturday afternoon join us for At the races and Racing UK, where
you can sit and watch all the races live from that day, and of course
all the usual facilities that go hand in hand with those events, we
also show the night racing when its on.
For those with that impending
sense of gloom that precedes a huge lottery win, these twice weekly
events are shown live on TV.Big Brother and all the Pop Star/Fame acadamy
type programs are usually on somewhere in the pub or beer garden.
For those who can't 'count'
there are pool tables and computer games.Music,
trivia and video quizzes are hosted in the evenings as well as big cash
bingo nights, (plans to bring in a comedian/hypnotist are olso in the
pipe line at the moment). All of the quizzes are free to enter with
a nice prize to be won and your team can include as many people as you
can squeeze into the pub. If you've got a big team - best come early!
At 11pm every night there is "Play Your Cards Right".Big rollovers
often pay for the next holiday, tickets for the play your cards right
go on sale at 9pm every night. Biggest Jackpot won last year was €2300
so dont miss out.
The weekend nights can get a bit mad when they turn the music up and
everyone's dancing, but there's not a lot else you can do with good
music. Just to add a twist to events, we occasionally throw in the odd
speciality act. The last one to spring to mind was a hypnotist, or so
he claimed, but nobody under the influence at the time can remember
anything about it and the witnesses might as well have been hypnotised
too, from a reporting point of view. Occasionally entertainers, experienced
with entertaining children, teach balloon modelling. Expect anything?
Oh yes, I nearly forgot the ghost! - ask Neil or Kerry behind the bar
for the lowdown......
