In a recent development, we saw most of Europe wind the block back a bit but the Balearic Islands may yet decide not to do the same. This will put the islands in a time zone different from that of Spain.
In the view of the MPs who favour summer time, they feel that because of the island being further east of Spain, it is impacted by annual changes more and this naturally does not sit well with the time zone alteration practiced in Europe.
In the government’s view when you turn the dial back, you actually reduce exposure to sunlight in evenings and this can have a detrimental effect on the body and mind producing mood alterations or swings. Summertime though will help reduce this and cut the television viewing of its residents. People will want to spend more time outside. Besides, the government believes that by taking such a step they can promote tourism during the winter months.
